Moving-in Essentials

Now that you’ve decided to get your own condo, you’ve taken the next step towards real independence. But before you can move into your new place, it’s time to make a list of all the things you’re going to need as a new homeowner. Let Pursuit of Passion walk you through some of the essentials!

Safety first! You’ll want your kit, which you can make out of any basic container, to have some antiseptic, band-aids, medical tape, and rubbing alcohol. Make sure you have a basic kit in the house; even if you’ve just settled into your new condo, accidents can happen, and it’s always better to err on the side of caution.

While your tableware hasn’t arrived yet (or you just haven’t bought them yet), you’ll want to have disposable plates, bowls, and utensils to save on the clean-up. This will help you avoid accidental breakage when you start moving boxes and furniture around. You can shift to using your actual tableware when you have a proper place to store them.

For your first few meals, you can’t go wrong with having a can opener as well as some basic pots and pans, along with basic prep tools such as knives, a cutting board and a peeler.

This one may go without saying, but you really don’t want to be out looking for soap at three in the morning. Even if you don’t have a medicine cabinet or a cupboard in the bathroom yet, it never hurts to stock up. After all, it’s always better to have your personal toiletries and not need them, than to need them and not have them.

While getting to know your neighborhood, you’ll be needing a supply of clean, potable water in the condo. Until you can work out regular delivery, you’ll be glad you took the time and effort to invest in a 5-gallon container of water for your new home.
