Decorate Your Walls Without Drilling Holes

Can't drill holes in your condo? Here are creative ways on how you can decorate your walls sans the drilling. By Katherine LopezHernandez

Nothing can make any space look drab and plain than blank walls. You can just imagine all the things that you want to hang to give your space life. But what if the condo management doesn’t allow drilling holes on the wall? How can you hang that framed photo of yours at the Eiffel Tower? Will you just stare at boring walls every day? Don’t worry! Here are simple tricks on how you can jazz up your walls without drilling holes.

1. Use adhesive tapes and hooks

These products are probably one of man’s most clever inventions when it comes to home improvement. Simply clean your walls with a damp rag, let it dry, and put the adhesive tapes and hooks. When they have already adhered to the wall after 24 hours, you can already hang your frames. Check out the 3M Command brand for these items, which are available in hardware stores and home depots.

2. Paint your walls in a bold color

Create an accent wall by painting one side with your favorite color (or if you’re bold enough, paint all four walls!). You can even experiment with different textures by using special effects paint and decorative painting techniques. Get beautiful interior walls with Nippon Paint.

3. Jazz up your walls with wallpaper

If repainting isn’t your thing (or it’s also not allowed), why not try covering your walls with wallpaper? You just have to choose a design that reflects your personality. You can even install the wallpaper yourself. Get stylish wallpapers at Studio Eleven (MG Building, 150 Amorsolo Street, Legaspi Village, Makati City). You can also check out Wallcrown at Unit CS 242 MC Home Depot Fort Bonifacio 32nd St. cor. Bonifacio Blvd., Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City for more options.

4. Paint a mural

Turn a wall into your very own artwork. A mural doesn’t have to look like it was painted by Picasso or Da Vinci. Feel free to create your own design or get ideas online. If you can download the image you want for free, print it out, and paint it on your wall with the help of a DIY projector. You can also paint motivational messages to inspire you, especially if you work at home.

5. Put wall stickers or decals

Get pretty walls in an instant with decals. You don’t need to do much. Just clean your walls, peel off the stickers, and put them on the wall. That’s it!

You can order ready-made and bespoke decals from Mesh Decorative Decals. Different designs are available—from typography, elements of nature, travel landmarks, and even quirky graphics like maps and mustaches.
