Bulacan in recent years has been getting a fair share of real estate developments particularly at its largest city, San Jose del Monte. Located in the province’s southern edge, it not only enjoys close proximity to Metro Manila, it also has a growing population base, serving as a magnet to big estate developments in the mold of Ayala Land’s Altaraza and its residential component, Avida Settings Altaraza.

Suburban Lifestyle in a Rustic Setting

It’s easy to get drawn to San Jose del Monte because of the suburban atmosphere it offers in an urban and rustic setting. Avida Settings Altaraza, for instance, sits cheek by jowl not only with prime commercial establishments and service providers. This community is just a few minutes north of the 2,659-hectare La Mesa Nature Reserve, last remaining rainforest of its size in Metro Manila.

A designated park and protected area, this preserve surrounds the La Mesa Dam and Reservoir, the main source of water for Metro Manila residents. It also features more than 50 kilometers of nature trails popular among bikers and runners. A stretch of the Sierra Madre, the Philippines’ longest mountain range, notably abuts just east of the La Mesa Nature Reserve. Vibrant Local Economy

Job and business opportunities are also on the rise in San Jose del Monte to further sweeten the quality of living in this flourishing Bulacan city. ABS-CBN was expected to complete the construction of its massive sound stages there last year. Measuring 1,500 square meters each, these facilities will provide sets not only for TV shows but also for film productions that conceivably can generate local employment.

As an added boost to the local economy, the Department of Trade and Industry set up a Negosyo Center in SJDM. This center will provide additional economic stimulus to the city, especially for micro and SMEs.

Mass Transport System Coming

The most anticipated game-changer though is a mass transport system now in the pipeline; this should put San Jose del Monte among the most desirable Metro Manila suburban places to live in. Now rising is the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 7 which will stretch a total of 22.8 kilometers when completed.

The MRT-7 line is set on a northeast route from North Avenue in Quezon City up to San Jose del Monte. This P62.7 billion mass transit project is expected to be finished in five years; its station in SJDM is proposed as an inter-modal terminal that should add to the perks of living in this city.

Exciting Residential Communities

Significantly, real estate developments are apace with the rising public infrastructures in San Jose del Monte. At the Altaraza Town Center, the QualiMed healthcare facility is already open as a full-service, 105-bed hospital.

Colegio de San Agustin also opened a new 25-hectare campus in the Altaraza neighborhood of Barangay Tungkong Mangga in SJDM. The school offers an educational curriculum from the primary to tertiary levels.
